[PHOTOS] Omanyala unveiled as Team Visa Athlete

Commonwealth Games 100m champion Ferdinand Omanyala has been unveiled as Team Visa Athlete.

Omanyala now joins the multinational payment services corporation as its global brand ambassador for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

He joins the current list of 117 Team Visa Athletes for Paris 2024, the largest group of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

The event was presided over by Sports CS Ababu Namwamba at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Nairobi.

Namwamba lauded Africa's fastest man for giving hope to young and upcoming athletes, terming him an example the Kenyan talented and young people can emulate if they want to conquer the world.

The CS encouraged young talents to follow in Omanyala's footsteps and create a niche for themselves, urging them not to be afraid to take a route that is least popular and to fully exploit spaces they are talented in.

"Expand territories beyond your usual spaces and take advantage of the available opportunities accorded to you," he said.

The CS further urged talented athletes to make use of the revolutionary Talanta Hela initiative, adding that the programme is not limited to any sports discipline but rather encompasses all sporting disciplines and creative spaces.

CS Ababu also rallied Kenyans behind the Kenyan under-18 football team as they battle for glory at the CECAFA U18 football tournament to be held in Kisumu and Kakamega Counties from December 25 to 9 2023.
