Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday graced the halls of Isiolo Girls High School for a fundraising ceremony.

According to Gachagua, the school's motto "Quality Education is our Inheritance," defines what the girl-child needs to lead a dignified life and transform the community.

With a commitment to dignifying the lives of the girl-child and catalyzing community transformation, the DP joined hands with other leaders in a fundraising event dedicated to infrastructural development.

Isiolo Girls High School holds a unique position as the sole National school for girls in Isiolo County, serving as a beacon of hope in a region grappling with prevalent retrogressive practices.

"This is an important undertaking for this Girls' School that is in the middle of a region with a high prevalence of retrogressive practices, including Female Genital Mutilation, Early Child Marriage, among others, which deny the girl-child access to Education," the DP said.

The fundraiser, a significant undertaking for the school, aims to fortify the learning environment and contribute to the eradication of barriers that hinder the education of the girl-child.

DP Gachagua expressed his dedication to complementing the government's investments in education, ensuring that the outcomes surpass mere academic achievements, and fostering an environment where every girl can thrive and claim her rightful inheritance – quality education.

Gachagua was welcomed by Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo and accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Education Ezekiel Machogu, Principal Secretaries Mohamed Liban (Petroleum) and Kello Harsama (ASALs and Regional Development).

Other leaders who attended the event were Woman Representatives Mumina Bonaya (Isiolo), Faith Gitau (Nyandarua), Liz Chelule (Nakuru), Jane Kagiri (Laikipia), Monicah Marabu (Lamu) and Pauline Lengoris (Samburu).

MPs, including Senator Chute Mohamed (Marsabit), Prof Guyo Waqo (Moyale), Geoffrey Ruku (Mbeere North), Abraham Kirwa (Mosop), Mburu Kahangara (Lari), Ali Laso (Saku) among others.
