Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday  held a meeting with  officials from the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF).

The meeting deliberated on areas of collaboration in the fight against the adverse effects of climate change.

The DP said the country has suffered the brunt of climate change as witnessed in the recent severe drought and subsequent destructive El Nino rains and floods.

"We are working closely with local and international partners in implementing medium-term and long-term measures through a consolidated approach on response and solid mitigation interventions," Gachagua said in a statement on X.

Members present were Senior Advisor of the ASEAN-Swiss Partnership on Social Forestry and Climate Change (ASFCC) Doris Capistrano, Vice-Chair Alexander Müller, The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) CEO Éliane Ubalijoro and The Principal Secretary for Irrigation Ephantus Kimotho.
