President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday presided over the Trooping of the Color on Friday and the official opening of the Kenya Army Band Headquarters and Defence Forces School of Music.

This will be the last time President Uhuru graces a KDF trooping of colour ceremony.

The event is significant for all of the Kenyan military and it is recorded in the unit's history.

The 21 Battalion the Kenya Rifles is an infantry unit of the 6th infantry brigade. The unit was formed in March 2016.

The presidential colour is the greatest honour bestowed upon a military unit in recognition of exceptional service to the nation during peace and war time, while regimental colour is a flag bearing the symbols associated with the unit which is carried as a mark of identification.

Other leaders present at the military barracks in Langata were Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and the Kenya Defence Forces top brass led by Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi.
