There was confusion on Tuesday after Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni promoted his son Muhoozi Kainerugaba to the rank of a general.
This followed a series of controversial tweets, where he insinuated that it would take him less than two weeks to capture Nairobi.
According to a Ugandan media outlet Daily Monitor, Muhoozi was fired as Uganda land forces commander.
But other media houses claimed that he had been promoted to the rank of Ugandan General.
In the apparent changes made on Tuesday, the local media houses reported that Kayanja Muhanga will take over from Muhoozi at the lands Forces commander.
Muhanga remains advisor on special operations without a standing deployment.
An earlier tweet by Muhoozi said he had had a discussion with his father following the row caused by his eruptive tweets.
"Had a good discussion with my great father this morning. Apparently, my tweets scared Kenyans too much? He will announce the changes. There is a special prayer I shall make for our army," he said.
In the changes, Kayanja Muhanga has been promoted to Lt Gen and appointed land forces commander.

However, the Army spokesperson said he is yet to receive the communication regarding the changes that have been made.
