President William Ruto on Wednesday met Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Nassir and discussed matters to do with development of the coastal county.
Sources indicated that the two leaders committed to the betterment of the lives of Mombasa residents.
Ruto and Nassir met in Nairobi before the Head of State attended the administration police passing out parade in Embakasi.
The meeting between Ruto and Nassir came only days after it emerged that Azimio leader Raila Odinga had encouraged leaders from the coalition to work with Kenya Kwanza administration, but cautioned them against falling for the government’s political tricks.
The coalition said elected governors, MPs, senators and MCAs are free to work with the government to the extent that they bring development to their electorate.
The announcement came hot on the heels of a visit to Mombasa by the opposition leader.
Raila joined former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who also toured the Coastal region to iron out issues regarding Azimio.
After the meeting, Raila announced that Uhuru had not expressed interest in quitting his role in Azimio.
Other leaders, including Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga and other local leaders, joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader on the tour of Mombasa.
