Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has sent a message to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta on how to handle rebel Jubilee party members.
In a statement on Saturday, Ngunyi said Uhuru should enforce section 14 of the Political Parties Act on the rebel Jubilee MPs and party members.
He said the former head of state should do this at the party's National Delegates Convention on Monday.
"Dear Uhuru Kenyatta. Any MP who promotes the Agenda of another party is deemed to have resigned (Constitution & Political Parties Act). Enforce this constitutional mandate at the Jubilee Party NDC. If a dog bites, you bite it back. That will make news," Ngunyi said.
Section 14(5)(e) of the Political Parties Act, 2011, says, "A person who, while being a member of a political party promotes the ideology, interests or policies of another political party, shall, notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1) or the provisions of any other written law, be deemed to have resigned from the previous political party."
The party has been embroiled in leadership wrangles between members who support the opposition and those that support President William Ruto.
One side is led by embattled secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and the other by EALA MP Kanini Kega.
Kega claims to be the acting secretary general. The team he leads is pro-President William Ruto.
The party was set to meet to review, formulate and approve Jubilee party policies.
They will also receive a status report from the National Executive Committee during the convention.
On Saturday, Uhuru announced the Ngong Race Course in Nairobi as the venue for the NDC.
