Njugush, Butita earn more than me – Ruto

Says the content creators are great artists and entrepreneurs worthy to be emulated by other youths.

President William Ruto has said Kenyan content creators Timothy Kimani alias Njugush and Eddie Butita earn more than him.

Speaking on Friday during the Kenya National Drama Festival held at State House, Nairobi, Ruto commended the duo saying they are great artists worthy to be emulated.

"These are our great artists who today are monetising their content. Pongezi sana (congratulations) gentlemen. Those two young men you see there, they are making more money than my salary,” Ruto said.

The President congratulated the talented comic personalities for being role models to other youths and urged others to take advantage of the creative spaces and get jobs.

"Those guys are serious entrepreneurs. Congratulations for trail blessing. Congratulations for being the example to many of our young people and knowing that the creatives space, the YouTube space is available for jobs for our young people,” Ruto said.

The President affirmed his commitment to change the fortunes of the country's creative industry.

He said that going forward, creatives should know that his government takes them serious as a key cog of the economy.

Further, he said that the creative industry is a crucial driver of the campaign against social vices including drug abuse.

"I think it is important to know what the society can be if we marshal all our resources that the young people can be," Ruto said.
