President William Ruto's troops have called for the civilian arrest of opposition chief Raila Odinga for leading the ongoing nationwide street protests.

Led by Kimilili MP Dismus Barasa, Kenya Kwanza lawmakers asked their supporters to arrest Raila if the police fail to do so within 24 hours.

"If the police do not arrest Raila within 24 hours, we want to ask our supporters, Kenya Kwanza supporters, to arrest Raila and take him to the nearest police station," Barasa said.

Barasa asked their supporters to come out and defend themselves and protect their property from destruction.

Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku told Police IG Japhet Koome to apprehend Raila or they will mobilize their supporters to swing into action.

Failure to do so, Ruku said they will start a forum and trigger processes to have their supporters arrest the opposition leader and his troops.

They said this after protesters on Wednesday pulled down the Expressway barrier near Mlolongo.

In a statement, Moja Expressway said a section of the Nairobi Expressway toll services have been temporarily halted at Mlolongo, Syokimau and SGR Toll Stations due to the ongoing demonstrations.

The company said that efforts were underway to restore normalcy to the road.

"For your safety, we urge all motorists plying the Westlands-Mlolongo route to exit from JKIA and Mlolongo-Westlands bound motorists may safely join the road from JKIA Toll Station," the statement read.
