Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua offered his condolences on Saturday to the family of Rev. Fr Joseph Kamamia, who he said passed away in a road accident on Friday night.
Upon hearing the news, Gachagua tweeted that he was shocked to learn of Father Kamamia's sudden death.
The Father-in-Charge of Kariko Parish in Othaya Constituency had previously served at Gikumbo Parish in Mathira Constituency while Gachagua was the local Member of Parliament.
Gachagua spoke highly of Father Kamamia's leadership qualities and his love and empathy for the poor. He also mentioned that Father Kamamia had recommended many deserving children for bursary allocation.
"My deepest condolences to his family, his fellow Priests in Nyeri Archdiocese, the Catholic faithful of Gikumbo and Kariko Parishes and the tens of children whose lives he touched," he said.
"Fare thee well, my friend and younger brother. I am deeply saddened."
