Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi has urged the Western Kenya region to rally behind the leadership of President William Ruto.

Mudavadi said the region stands to benefit more from the leadership of Kenya Kwanza government, even as he recounted his 'earthquake' move in the build-up to last year's elections was well thought of and planned.

“When I introduced the 'earthquake', the earth was discharging its burden and in reflection, we were uniting with Ruto to get Kenyans out of the difficulties, especially the economic turmoil that was hitting us hard,” Mudavadi said.

Speaking during the launch of Western Kenya Muslim Women Sacco in Kakamega, he said he had the interest of the Western region’s needs at heart and has since brought them to the table.

“Our collapsed sugar industries and other income-generating factories are top of the agenda for the region. We cannot afford not to support this government if we need to create jobs and wealth for our people,” he said.

He said the anticipated dialogue between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja should be preceded by honesty and goodwill.

“We all agree on the reform agenda about the electoral commission and other listed items but we are not going to allow any form of 'nusu mkate' conversation," Mudavadi said.

He also rallied the Western Kenya people to look into what the presidency is offering on the table, saying President Ruto has demonstrated to work for all Kenyans.

“We are extending an olive branch to create an environment where we will work together for the unity of the country. Nobody should be left behind. This is the sole reason why the President has accommodated the Muslim family in his government across key ranks,” Mudavadi said.

He further noted that Kenya is not facing any crisis as being perceived.

He insisted that the focus remains on reviving the economy, urging Kenyans to also support the government's agenda on climate change.
