Isiolo-Merille road impassible after heavy rains - KeNHA

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has cautioned motorists against using the Isiolo-Merille Road, saying it is currently impassable

In a statement, KeNHA stated that the road was not safe for transportation due to the ongoing heavy rains across the country.

“KeNHA wishes to notify and caution motorists plying the Isiolo - Merille Road of flooding and heavy siltation overtopping the Road at Kirish centre rendering it impassable," the statement reads.

The highway authority called on the public to exercise caution when driving along the Road section both during the day and night.

“Motorists are advised to exercise patience as the Authority clears the affected section to allow passage of traffic, “the statement stated.

The Kenya Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfall in most parts of the country from November 2023.

In the latest forecast, Met also said it anticipated a reduction in spatial coverage and rainfall amounts during the latter half of the forecast period.

The weatherman said isolated storms may occur in specific regions, including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast.
