The National Police Service has thanked the public for their continued support in the fight against crime.

On Friday, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei noted that drug abuse has become a menace and threat to humanity and especially to Kenyans.

Declaring war against the illicit trade and substance abuse, he said the government was going to ensure that the vice is ended.

He spoke during a stakeholders' meeting at Machakos University.

Koskei called on concerted efforts among all stakeholders including state officials, politicians and Kenyans to join hands in the war towards eradicating such vices in the society.

"Assistant chiefs, chiefs, assistant county commissioners, deputy county commissioners, everybody including MCAs, governors, MPs, let us rise up against this so that we can save this generation," he said.

"I urge all of you, let us not relent, surrender or retreat. Let us keep on fighting to ensure that those people who are peddling drugs, selling illicit brew and second-rated alcohol laced with poison are arrested, arraigned and charged in court."
