Defence CS Aden Duale on Wednesday held talks with the Pakistani High Commissioner to Kenya Ibrahim Hussain Khan at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

The CS said that Kenya and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have continued to enjoy warm cordial relations dating back to the 1960s.

The bilateral ties were cemented in November 2023, when the two States negotiated a Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA) currently undergoing consideration by the two parties.

The CS cited that the two countries have collaborated in military engagements including high-level leadership visits, regular port calls to Mombasa by Pakistan Naval ships and military training among others.

He further echoed the existence of a huge potential for furthering the synergy through the defence industry and maritime cooperation which shall be possible once the DCA comes into effect.

Duale said the country hopes for fruitful outcomes from the partnership.

"The Republic of Kenya and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are members of the Commonwealth of Nations and have common aspirations to promote regional and global peace, security, and economic prosperity. This is despite the challenges of terrorism and border security that the two countries experience," Duale said.

Other leaders present included the Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy at the Defence Headquarters, Brigadier Richard Mwanzia.
