A Nairobi-based businessman has asked President William Ruto to engage his deputy face-to-face for the sake of the stability of the nation.

Mustafa Maalim said as it stands, Ruto has no option other than engaging Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for a candid conversation to find a longstanding solution.

He said this will ensure political temperatures calm for the sake of stability.

“There are few options for now in addressing this political differences between the president and his deputy. He needs to engage him,” he said.

Maalim added there is also a need for Ruto to stop his cabinet and Members of Parliament from abusing and attacking Gachagua publicly.

“The members of the cabinet and MPs who are abusing the DP must desist. This is politics and anything can happen,” he said.

Maalim said as it stands, the government is divided and engaging the DP and making it public will calm down political temperatures which are almost out of control.

“The DP has hinted that bad blood could be between him and his boss. We need to calm down the temperature to work for the country,” Maalim added.

The alleged differences between the President and the DP have seen the latter complain he is being mistreated and abused by juniors in government.

Maalim, however, argued that DP Gachagua has a share in the Kenya Kwanza government and still controls a huge political stake for him to ignore.

“Gachagua is his deputy until the term ends in 2027.”

“We do not want to see any mistreatment on him at all for the sake of stability,” he said.

On recent claims by Gachagua on various security issues, Maalim said these are politics that must be addressed politically.

“Let them sit and talk to agree. If they disagree let them be ready to run an unstable regime to the end.”
