Kenya Union Party, which is among the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition affiliates, has backed Raila Odinga in the bid for a national dialogue.

Party leader David Pkosing, who is also Pokot South MP, affirmed this on Thursday, differing with his colleagues who have rejected the idea.

“As a party in Azimio, we support the position taken by ODM for national dialogue,” Pkosing said.

“We also support the formation of a government of national unity. This is about the country, this is about the future,” he added.

Pkosing went on:

“When a country is in crisis, a leader emerges. Thank you Baba Raila Amolo Odinga for emerging.”

He said Raila “has been the seed Kenya needs to come out of a crisis, has done it before, and will do it now”.

Pkosing thanked President William Ruto for opening up for dialogue and embracing inclusive government.

“Our county will be safe and prosperous for all,” he said at a time a bitter split has rocked the jumbo opposition outfit over Ruto’s olive branch.

This was evident on Wednesday when rowdy youths stormed the coalition's presser and chased away leaders among them Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka.

The former Vice President is leading a team that has resolved that the coalition will not be part of the proposed government of national unity.
