All roads leading to State House have been barricaded with a contingent of police officers deployed to regulate the movement of motorists.
Police have erected several roadblocks, barring all motorists and pedestrians from accessing the routes.
The officers, armed with batons and firearms, have mounted a road block near State House girls.
Processional Way has also been blocked near Serena Hotel while access to State House from Argwings Kodhek has been blocked near the Chinese Embassy.
Access to town has been blocked at Silver Spring Roundabout.
"This is a protected area. We don't allow any access here today," a police officer told Star journalists.
Police are also patrolling the roads leading to State House.
Near to State House fence, police and military trucks are parked.
