A
35-year-old man was stabbed and killed in a confrontation with three assailants
in a village in Kiligoris, Narok County.
Police said the incident happened in Kikonor Sub Location’s Manyalla area.
Police said the body of Michael Kiptoo was discovered in the area after he had been stabbed in the neck.
He died on the spot following the October 20 incident.
The assailants escaped the scene and the motive is yet to be known, police said.
Police said they had established three assailants confronted the deceased and stabbed him in the neck near his house.
The body was moved to the Kilgoris Level Four Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Elsewhere in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, the body of a woman was found floating in River Sagana.
Police suspect the woman either died by drowning or was killed and dumped in the river.
The body was spotted on Sunday afternoon by locals who also helped to remove it.
The body with no visible injuries was moved to Murang'a Level Five Hospital Mortuary for identification and postmortem examination.
Police say they want to establish the motive if any and if the woman was killed.
There is also a possibility she accidentally drowned.
The river is a source of dozens of bodies of victims who either are killed, drowned or died by suicide.
Many such cases are pending under probe, police say.
Meanwhile, two cases of suicide were reported in Taita Taveta and Elgeyo Marakwet areas.
In Taita Taveta, a 58-year-old man died by suicide by hanging himself on a tree.
Police said he hanged himself with a manila rope that was tied around his neck on a tree in his compound.
No suicide note was recovered at the scene. The body was moved to the local mortuary pending autopsy.
In Kacherop village, Elgeyo Marakwet, one Leah Cheruto, 60 died by suicide by hanging herself with a sisal rope that was tied around her neck on one of the roof rafters inside her house.
Police said no suicide note was found and the motive of the incident is yet to be known.
The body was moved to Kitale County Hospital morgue for postmortem examination.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls on authorities to take action to address the trend.
Up to three cases are reported daily in the worrying issue, officials say.
