Content creator and influencer Tabitha Gatwiri died out of suffocation, an autopsy report shows.

The autopsy on the body which was conducted at the Kenyatta University Funeral Home shows she died from suffocation, a statement issued said.

“The late Gatwiri passed on from positional asphyxia with brain edema,” the statement read.

Positional asphyxia is a type of suffocation that occurs when a person’s position hinders them from breathing adequately.

Positional asphyxia, also known as jack-knife position, can occur when someone is in an abnormal position for too long.

This can obstruct the airway, prevent the body from getting enough oxygen, and lead to unconsciousness, suffocation, or death. It occurs when someone’s body position prevents from breathing properly, leading to brain edema and death.

Gatwiri’s death was announced on October 31.

A number of the late comedian’s close friends shared on social media that she fell ill two days before her passing but she was still in high spirits nonetheless as detailed in screenshots of text messages shared by some of her industry friends.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka also joined the entertainment fraternity in mourning the actress.

"She was a young woman determined to change the world for the better with her ideas. Our discussions on the State of the Nation and what her generation could achieve given the opportunity were mind-provoking."

In the days leading up to the discovery of her body, Gatwiri’s brother was concerned about her well-being after calls and texts went unanswered.

He eventually decided to go to her house, only to discover her lifeless body.

Gatwiri was one of the more successful content creators on social media, boasting well over 120,000 followers on TikTok.

She is a well-known content creator, and she acted at The Real House Helps of Kawangware.

Gatwiri, 29 was known for her amusing comedy skits, which she shared on various social media platforms.

Her first skit to go viral was the one she was talking about her university boyfriend and his romantic language.
