  • The Court of Appeal will today hear a case filed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua challenging the empanelment of the High Court bench hearing his case against his impeachment.


President William Ruto will jet out to South Sudan for a one-day official meeting with President Salva Kiir.

South Sudan Presidential Press Secretary Lily Martin Manyiel Ayuel announced Tuesday that the two presidents will meet to discuss the achievements of the Tumaini Initiative.

Tumaini Peace Initiative, which was launched on May 9, 2024, in Nairobi,  is a high-level mediation for the conflict in South Sudan.

Ruto, Kiir, and former Kenyan Army Commander and Chief Mediator Major-Gen Lazarus Sumbeiywo are the lead mediators.

It incorporates all the holdout groups that have not signed the 2018 R-ARCSS (Revitalised Agreement on Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan).

NCAJ annual report

The National Council on Administration of Justice (NCAJ) will today launch its annual report on Administration of Justice in Kenya (2023-2024). The event will be held at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. Gachagua case

The Court of Appeal will today hear a case filed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua challenging the empanelment of the High Court bench hearing his case against his impeachment.

Gachagua had moved to the Court of Appeal seeking orders to declare the bench of Justices Eric Ogola, Anthony Mrima and Frida Mugambi unconstitutional saying its composition was done by Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and not Chief Justice Martha Koome as required.

Court of Appeal judges Patrick Kiage, Aggrey Muchelule and George Odunga had directed that the case be heard virtually today.

Waititu case

The case against former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu involving an irregular award of tender worth Sh588 million will be mentioned today.

The case will be mentioned before Chief Magistrate Thomas Nyoki for directions on final submissions.
