Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's campaign secretariat for his continental job bid will hold a mega session in Addis Ababa on Friday to lobby for support.
Raila and his campaign team's strategists will hold a campaign meeting with various diplomats from across the continent as he ramps up his hunt for the African Union Commission chairperson position.
The meeting has been carefully assembled to bring on board all diplomats based in Addis Ababa to allow Raila to explain his agenda for the continent ahead of the February 2025 poll.
The meeting will serve as Raila's official continental campaign launch after President William Ruto unveiled him as the country's sole candidate for the AUC job.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing'oei said Kenya is ready to take Raila's campaigns to the next level with the continental launch planned for Friday.
"The launch will mainly involve Addis-based diplomats. We shall apprise then on the candidate's concrete plans to elevate the AU, enhance its prestige and deposition it as the anchor negotiator for Africa,'' the PS said.
The PS, who, alongside Kenya's former ambassador to the United States Elkana Odembo, leads the secretariat for Raila's campaigns, said there will also be a media engagement in Ethiopia on November 9.
Kenya already launched Rila's campaign officials in Nairobi on August 27, a ceremony that was attended by regional heads of state.
Even as Raila takes his campaigns to Adis Ababa, the headquarters of the African Union Commission, it has emerged that his campaign secretariat has expanded the team of diplomats.
At the same time, the secretariat has clustered the continent into five regions and assigned various teams that will lead campaigns there for the 2025 poll.
The regions include Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western and Central Africa.
The Northern African Strategy team include Professor Makumi Mwagiru, Dr Hassan Khanenje, Ambassador Boaz Mbaya, Pro Mohamud Jama and Herman Manyora.
The Southern team has Ambassadors Anthony Okara, Catherine Mwangi, Professor Ochieng Kamudhayi, Professor Karuti Kanyinga and Dismus Mokua.
The Eastern team consists of Ambassadors Muita Muburi, Salim Salim, Professor Noah Midamba, Doctor Jane Kiguru, Col(Rtd) Godfrey Gitonga, and Dr Sylvia Wakena.
The Western group include Lt (Rtd) Lazaro Sumbeiywo, Alexander Muteshi, Brig General (Rtd) Wilsom Boinnet, Ambassador Tom Amolo, Dr Kizito Sabala and Dr Sylvia Wakena.
The Central region has Amabsessor Ali Guyo, Dr George Masafu, Ambassador John Mwangemi, Dr Josephine Ojiambo, Peter Kirui and Wilfred Nasong'o Muliro.
