The Court has ordered that DNA samples be extracted from the body of former Bonchari MP Zepedeo Opore for paternity tests following a family dispute.
At the same time, the court ordered that the former assistant minister be buried on Saturday after the family registered consent on Friday morning.
Kisii Senior Principal Magistrate's Court also directed that a woman who moved to court challenging Opore's burial plans should be included in Saturday's funeral programme including his two children.
Roseangela Nkirote, the former MP's alleged wife, had moved to court seeking to block Opore's burial alleging that she and her two children had been excluded from Opore's burial plans.
The court stopped the burial, which was to take place on Friday, November 8, following the application by Nkirote.
However, on Friday, the court ruled that the family had registered consent to allow Opore to be buried on Saturday on the condition that DNA samples be extracted to ascertain the paternity of the two alleged children.
"That DNA samples be extracted from the body of Zebedeo Opre (Deceased) at Lee Funeral Home on November 8, 2024, at 13000hrs or thereabout in the presence of Jared Ombata representing the Plainful and Francis Opore representing the defendants herein,'' ordered the court.
The court ordered that the DNA samples be then transmitted to the Aga Khan hospital for the purposes of ascertaining the paternity of the Nkirote's two children.
The court also directed that the OCPD Suneka to ensure the safety of Nkirote and her children during the funeral ceremony on Saturday with full participation throughout the process.
"In default, the aggrieved party to move the court accordingly,'' ordered Senior Principal Magistrate B.O Omwansa.
The Court directed that Opore's burial should take place at his ancestral home in Riana, Bonchari, Kisii County.
Nkirote sued Francis Opore, Vincent Opore, Charles Opore, Emily Opore, Robin Opore and Stella Opore on November 4, 2024.
Senior politicians including Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka had planned to attend the burial in Kisii and had seven released their itinerary before the court stopped the interment on Thursday.
