President William Ruto on Thursday officially launched the new Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium in Siaya, Siaya County.

He was accompanied by Uganda President Yoweri Museveni and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The state-of-the-art stadium, with a capacity of 20,000 seats, is expected to host a range of multinational sports competitions aimed at boosting cross-border harmony and talent exchange.

President Ruto emphasized the importance of such facilities in fostering collaboration and integration among African nations.


"We are going beyond our boundaries to promote multinational sports competitions so as to deepen cross-border harmony, boost talent exchange and enhance regional integration," Ruto said.

Ruto, Museveni and Raila watched a match between Gor Mahia and Uganda’s Kitara Football Club which he described as thrilling.


"Later, watched a thrilling match between Gor Mahia and Uganda’s Kitara Football Club as we wound up the Piny Luo Cultural Festival celebrations. Congratulations K'Ogalo for outclassing The Royals."
