A 21-year-old man believed to have murdered his employer on Sunday, November 10 in the Njathaini area of Kasarani is among three suspects arrested.

The suspect was smoked out of his hideout in the Valley area of Kinoo in Kiambu County over the murder of Catherine Waceke Kimotho, 78.

The woman was reported missing before her body was discovered, police and witnesses said.

The matter was reported at Njathaini Police Station.

After a search, the deceased's body was later discovered in a septic tank wrapped in a blanket at the homestead where she lived with the suspect.

The septic was next to the woman's cowshed.

Preliminary observation on the body indicates that she had head injuries. Police suspect she was hit by a blunt object.

The suspect, a casual labourer at the home,  was missing. 

Acting on intelligence, detectives from Nairobi regional headquarters proceeded to Kinoo, where the suspect was being harboured by his cousin. The two individuals were arrested.

After interrogating the suspects, detectives intensified investigations into Githurai 44, where they recovered the mobile phone of the deceased at a phone repair shop.

He was also arrested.

The three suspects have been booked at Kasarani Police Station ahead of their arraignment on  Wednesday.

Detectives seek to unearth the motive behind the heinous murder.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the 21-year-old murder suspect disagreed with the employer after she allegedly failed to pay her the agreed salary.

The casual labourer had worked at the woman's homestead for a month.
