Kenyans who wish to secure job opportunities abroad can now do so after the government announced new dates for recruitment interviews.

According to the Cabinet dispatch, recruitment for various foreign positions will be held across all counties from November 18, 2024, to December 6, 2024.

The Cabinet meeting held at State House on Thursday was chaired by President William Ruto.

"A new wave of recruitment will take place between November 18 and December 6, 2024, with the recruitment centres being stationed in all counties across the Republic,” the dispatch reads.

“The Cabinet encouraged all eligible Kenyans to seize these opportunities, which would not only create pathways for employment but also facilitate skills and technology transfer to Kenya," the dispatch read.

The range of jobs available encompasses both professional, skilled and unskilled roles, spanning sectors from healthcare to education and hospitality.

The various job positions include nurses, aged-care workers, educators in science, mathematics, English, and physical education, chefs, drivers and other unspecialised roles.

The government said the move falls in line with the State’s commitment to foster intergenerational equity and broaden economic opportunities for Kenyans.

According to the dispatch, a total of 105,367 Kenyans have secured employment opportunities abroad since July 2023.

To further expand the availability of these job opportunities, Kenya is negotiating additional bilateral labor agreements to include new markets beyond the established destinations to countries like the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.

The new potential overseas markets under negotiation include Russia, Poland, and Jordan.

The government has urged qualified Kenyans to take advantage of these openings, emphasising that the jobs would not only create pathways for employment but also facilitate the transfer of skills and technology to Kenya.

During the meeting, the Cabinet also approved the upgrading of five technical training institutes to national polytechnics.

This will prepare every Kenyan for the expanding opportunities both at home and abroad.

The TTIs to be upgraded include Michuki TTI, Mitunguu TTI, Ol’lessos TTI, Nairobi TTI and Research and Technology TTI in Kaimosi.
