The Board of The Nairobi Hospital (TNH) has reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted healthcare service delivery and institutional integrity.

The board’s assurance comes at a time when the hospital is undergoing leadership changes and internal challenges that have recently drawn public and regulatory attention.

Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, newly appointed board Chair Barcley Onyambu reassured stakeholders of the hospital’s continued dedication to quality care.

He described recent governance and integrity concerns as isolated and not reflective of the broader institution.

"Leadership confidence is vital to any institution, particularly one central to the health of the community such as The Nairobi Hospital," Onyambu said.

“The recent reports on integrity and leadership are isolated and do not detract from our focus. The Board continues to work cohesively, guided by a strong leadership team and a commitment to shared values.”

Acting Chief Executive Officer Felix Osano echoed the sentiments, saying the hospital remained resilient and committed to excellence.

“We are taking decisive steps to address challenges and ensure that The Nairobi Hospital remains a beacon of trust and quality healthcare in Kenya,” Osano said.

The hospital, considered one of Kenya’s leading private medical institutions, has in recent months undergone a shake-up in its board of directors.

This has been seen as part of a broader move to enhance governance, strengthen oversight, and bring renewed focus to operational excellence.

“The changes we have made in our board will accelerate our momentum toward institutional excellence,” Onyambu noted, highlighting the infusion of new talent and diverse expertise aimed at guiding TNH through its current challenges.

Among the most prominent concerns has been an ongoing investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which began following a raid at the facility.

The probe, which reportedly touches on sensitive data handling and patient confidentiality, raised alarm over institutional transparency and privacy safeguards.

The High Court has since stayed the investigation and granted anticipatory bail to implicated board members.

Beyond legal issues, the hospital has also been grappling with internal wrangles, including disputes over doctor suspensions and broader governance tensions.

These have spurred calls from both internal stakeholders and the public for increased transparency, better communication, and leadership reform.

Despite these headwinds, Onyambu maintained that the Board remains optimistic and firmly focused on continuity of care.

"We recognise that we will be judged by how well we lead the hospital beyond this period. Our dedicated staff continues to deliver uninterrupted and quality service to the public," he said.

The Board expressed gratitude to the hospital’s staff, patients, patrons, and well-wishers for their continued support.

“Kenyans’ faith in this institution has not gone unnoticed. As we navigate this chapter, we pledge to fully repay your trust in us and continue serving you in the best way possible,” Onyambu stated.

The Nairobi Hospital, established in 1954, is a premier non-profit institution known for its role in delivering world-class healthcare in East Africa.
