Ruto said on Saturday that he would climax the week with a Sunday service at a Catholic Church.

His remarks came after the catholic bishops blasted his government over what they termed a culture of lies.

Speaking in Embu on Saturday, Ruto said he had heard the concerns raised by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops and that he would make corrections on the issues they highlighted.

He spoke when he attended the consecration service of Rev. Peter Kimani as the new Bishop of Embu Diocese.

The president recounted a turbulent week, in which he said the church took him head-on even as he also fired back.

Just hours after blasting the KCCB for allegedly lying in the process of telling the truth, Ruto on Friday told the bishops to be truthful and avoid falling into the temptation of being victims of what they accuse others of doing.

However, on Saturday Ruto made an about-turn on his sentiments made on Friday at Tangaza University, promising to change his ways.

"Tumewasikiza bishop wetu… Vile wametusahihisha hiyo makosa tutarekebisha (We have heard our bishops, where they have corrected us we shall change),” Ruto said amid applause from the congregation.

"Juzi nilipata salamu kutoka kwa maaskofu… Jumapili ntaenda kanisani iwe wiki complete(The other day I reievd greetigs from the bishops and on Sunday I will attend a catholic church to complete the week)."

The bishops had, on Thursday, accused President Ruto of engaging in a "culture of lies" and "unkept promises" while at the same time overtaxing Kenyans who are grappling with the high cost of living.

The government came out strongly in defence of the president.
