Finland couple robbed of property worth Sh205,000 in Kilifi

Police in Kilifi are investigating an incident in which a 62-year-old dual citizen of Kenya and Finland was attacked and robbed on Monday.

According to the police report, the man was walking along the Cowrie Shells/Pride Inn Beach area when they were attacked.

The couple, according to police, were staying in one of the hotels in the area.

The two men who were armed with knives approached them and robbed them of their valuables.

The police report says the couple lost their mobile phones, a wristwatch worth Sh200,000 and a necklace worth Sh5,000.

During the incident, the wife sustained injuries on her left wrist and was taken to Premier Hospital for medical treatment.

So far, no suspect has been arrested in relation to the incident. The stolen properties are also yet to be recovered.

In a similar incident in Tana River on Sunday, a man was attacked by three masked men in Kunaso area shortly after packing his motorcycle to wait for a passenger.

The assailants made away with the motorcycle, the police report said.

In another, police are investigating an incident where a resident of Lari Constituency, Kiambu County lost his cows on Monday.

John Njuguna reported that he had locked his two Fresian cows in his cowshed within his compound located in Kamuchege village before going to sleep.

However, upon waking up the following morning, he discovered that both cows worth Sh350,000 were missing.

The police investigations to trace the stolen cows are underway.

Cases of livestock theft have been on the rise in the country.

Just last week, at least seven people, among them bandits, lost their lives in incidences involving theft and recovery of cattle in Isiollo and Samburu counties.

In the Bojidare area, an unknown number of suspected bandits armed with assault rifles invaded Manyattas while shooting, and in the process, they stole about 250 cows and 300 goats around 02:30 am.

A multi-agency National Police Service officers comprising Kenya Police, Anti-Stock Theft Unit and National Police Reservists officers trailed and recovered all 300 goats plus 30 cows.

During the incident, two people lost their lives, and three others were injured.
