Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has appointed members of the National Youth Advisory Board.
In a gazette notice, the CS also appointed members of the National Steering Committee for the National Youth Council Elections.
Members of the board are Caroline Warui, Stephen Wafula, Dennis Kipruto Mungo, Annabell Shikanda Apondi and Yvonne Olando.
The term of the Board shall be three years, and the term may be extended for such period as the Cabinet Secretary may consider necessary.
The principal function of the board is to receive and approve the plans, reports, financial statements and the budget of the National Youth Council.
It will advise the council generally on the exercise of its powers and the performance of its functions.
Members appointed to the National Steering Committee for the National Youth Council Elections are George Marcel O. Osaso (chairperson), Mohammed Barre, Beverly Anyona, Mary Mbugua, Mukomoni J. Osero, Wilkistar M. Oluoch, Gideon Balang, Mildred Nduta Karanja, Eunice Ebongon Akuom, Jonathan Kipkosgei Koech, Mwango Kitsao Kalu, Hellen Tuwei and Sophy Nekoye Waliaula.
The committee will co-ordinate the National Youth Council elections at all levels; hear and determine complaints and disputes and, where applicable, appeals arising out of the National Youth Congress elections and nominations; receive and authenticate nomination papers for candidates participating in the National Youth Congress elections; convene and oversee the proceedings of the National Youth Congress and enforce the terms of any code of conduct as may be established by the Cabinet Secretary for purpose of the National Youth Congress elections or as otherwise provided in the guidelines.
They will also appoint election officials for the National Youth Congress elections; supervise and coordinate the activities of the Election Steering Committees established under paragraph 6 (1) of these Guidelines; vet and forward the names of the elected and nominated members, and substitute members of the National Youth Council to the Cabinet Secretary
The term of the committee shall be 12 months.
