A man in Mwihoko, Githurai subcounty in Kiambu reportedly stabbed and killed his 16-year-old daughter following a domestic squabble.
The 45-year-old man also stabbed his wife, who has been admitted to Ruiru subcounty hospital and is undergoing treatment in serious but stable condition.
Police indicated that the landlord of a plot within Mwihoko where the man lived reported the incident.
The man is said to have left home following domestic differences with his wife.
He later returned to the said plot and violently knocked at the door.
“As his wife, 45, opened the door, he grabbed their son aged three and said that he was leaving with him,” a police report said.
“The wife tried to resist and the husband took a kitchen knife and stabbed her on her head and then turned on their daughter aged 16 who was screaming for help and stabbed her on the back.”
Police said the man escaped to an unknown destination leaving the knife and an unharmed son behind.
Neighbours rushed the victims to Ruiru subcounty hospital where the daughter was pronounced dead on arrival while the mother was admitted.
“Police rushed to the scene about one kilometre east of the station and necessary action has been taken,” police report said.
A blood-stained knife believed to be the murder weapon has been recovered at the scene.
Police officers then visited Ruiru Subcounty Hospital and found the body of the deceased lying on a hospital bed with a stab wound on the back while the mother was undergoing treatment for injuries on the head.
The body of the deceased has been processed and moved to the Thika Level Five hospital morgue pending an autopsy.
The incident comes barely a week after a man killed his estranged wife before he died by suicide in Kamandura village of Kamirithu in Limuru, Kiambu County.
The suspect was reported to have died by suicide after the incident.
The incident was reported to the police by the village elder, having found the badly mutilated body of the victim sprawled in a cornfield.
