Gachagua who was impeached in October last year has remained active hosting politicians, opinion leaders, church leaders and professionals from the region as he strategises for 2027.
While it remains unclear whether he will be on the ballot to challenge his former boss, President William Ruto, the political meetings suggest he might be positioning himself as a major political force in the region.
Over the past month, his residence has been a hub of political activities, with delegations from various counties in Mt Kenya flocking to discuss potential political options.
On Tuesday, the former Mathira MP met some elders who are county chairpersons and county patrons from some counties within the region.
During the meeting, Gachagua said the leaders shared their ideas on the political plans for the region.
“They shared what they think are the priorities for the year 2025, and the options they see facing our community especially as regards political direction and social integration,” he said.
These sessions, he said, are really useful as they set in place plans for this year.
In a past meeting in Nyeri, Gachagua told his supporters to be patient noting he would be giving them directions in January (this month) on their next political path.
“I am having talks with our religious leaders, our business people, our professionals and leaders who love us. Come January I will reveal to you what we have been talking about,” he announced.
“We will talk to everyone going forward to build a strong coalition. What I can say is that there will come a time when we will ask everyone to validate their membership in Azimio and expand,” he said.
His remarks come a week after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka confirmed they were having talks with him describing it as a move to “build a strong coalition”.
