Lawyer Danstan Omari has declared interest in vying for the Nairobi senatorial seat in 2027.
The lawyer said that Nairobi County needs him, saying he is a solid candidate for the position.
In a video seen by the Star on Wednesday, Omari said, "Nairobi needs a solid person to be the senator; the politics of Nairobi are like this; in the first election under the new constitution in 2013, Evans Kidero was the governor and Mike Sonko was the senator; in 2017, Sonko became the governor while Jonson Sakaja was the senator; in 2022 Sakaja became the governor and Edwin Sifuna became the senator," he said.
"This is the time for Sifuna to be the governor, and therefore, I will be in the race to take over from Sifuna so that in 2032, I will also be the governor of Nairobi."
The lawyer said Nairobi is a great city in Africa and it is where the President resides, adding that it needs a firm, focused, and a person who has a profile.
He said that he will be at the frontline to ensure that funds disbursed in the city are properly utilised for development if he bags the senatorial seat.
"I want to come in as the Danstan Omari, who has been in court and defended hawkers, touts, boda boda operators and business communities that start from the smallest business of Sh5 to billion-shilling resources. That is the voice missing in the Senate," he added.
The lawyer added that he started off his career in Nyamira, moved to Nairobi, and is now an international individual.
"Whether I stand as an independent candidate or on any party, I will sell my policies and positions as Danstan Omari," the lawyer added.
The city lawyer has represented various clients in cases ranging from causing disorder in protests to murder.
