President William Ruto is today scheduled to chair a crisis meeting over the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Ruto will convene the meeting in his capacity as chairperson of the East African Community (EAC).

The meeting comes after M-23 rebels declared that they had seized control of the eastern DRC capital of Goma, intensifying the already volatile situation in the region.


The violence in Goma erupted Sunday and Monday, as M-23 rebels clashed with DRC's security forces in the Eastern city with reports also indicating there were exchanges of fire between DRC and Rwandan troops.


The M23 rebels are backed by Rwanda and have gained significant ground in Goma.


Speaking in Nairobi on Monday, Ruto stressed the importance of finding a peaceful solution to the crisis, which has put thousands of lives at risk.

On Tuesday several embassies including that of Kenya in Kinshasa were set ablaze.

MOH press briefing

The Ministry of Health will today hold its weekly press briefing media featuring updates on Kenya's health sector, including key initiatives, progress, and responses to current health issues.

It will be held at Afya House from 9 am.


Met weather forecast

Kenya Meteorological Department will today unveil the official forecast for May- April- May 2025 long rains.


Kenya Met Director David Gikungu is set to deliver this during the 10th Kenya National Climate Outlook Forum.


It is themed 'Enhancing climate services to enhance warning in Kenya'. The virtual meeting is set for 9 am.


The weatherman has predicted that ongoing rains in some parts of the country will continue until next week.


MPs retreat


The ongoing National Assembly's mid-term retreat which officially started Tuesday in Naivasha, Nakuru enters its second day today.


Speaker Moses Wetang'ula opened the summit.


The members are meeting to reflect on the progress made, challenges and successes during the first, second and third sessions of the 13th parliament and how to improve their legislative roles.


Cervical cancer awareness


Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni will today be at JM Kariuki Hospital in Nyandarua for the national cervical cancer awareness month.


Marked yearly, it is a time to raise awareness about cervical cancer, HPV vaccination, and early detection through regular screenings.
