Pregnant student killed in suspected love triangle in Homa Bay

CRIME SCENE

A first-year female student at a National Polytechnic in Homa Bay County was brutally stabbed and killed by her alleged boyfriend, a fellow student, in what police suspect to be a love triangle gone wrong.

The victim, a 20-year-old land survey student, was reportedly attacked in her hostel on the morning of Saturday, February 1.

Authorities revealed that she was pregnant at the time of the attack.

According to preliminary investigations, she was stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife, resulting in the loss of her unborn child.

Police said the suspect, also a student at the institution, fled the scene and is currently on the run.

Investigators say the victim was last seen in her hostel on Friday evening when the suspect visited her, hours before the fatal incident.

The two are said to have spent the night together before commotion was heard in a room where they were on Saturday at 5 am.

It was then that the girl was found bleeding and crying for help.

The student was rushed to the hospital with a wound on her abdomen where she succumbed, police said.

Rachuonyo North Police Commander Lydia Parteyie said police are looking for the suspect for questioning.

She urged the suspect to surrender to authorities for questioning and further processing.

The body of the woman was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident where a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by a student of a Teachers Training College (TTC) during a confrontation over a form four female student.

Police said the incident happened in Ongogo Tir village. The man died as he was being rushed to Homabay Referral Hospital.

Police said the suspect was arrested and detained at the Mbita police station. The body was preserved at a local mortuary pending autopsy.
