University student found dead in Muthurwa, Nairobi
Body had stab wounds
Witnesses claimed the man was lying across the railway line as the train approached.
In Summary
A middle-aged man was found dead with his body badly mutilated after being run over by a train in Kibera slums, Nairobi.
Police
said they were called to the Kibera 42 area after locals spotted the amputated
body of the man on the railway line.
He also
had multiple injuries on the head and his legs had been amputated, police said
of the Tuesday incident.
It was
later established that a commuter train was from Nairobi Central Railway
Station to Limuru Railway Station when it crushed the man.
Witnesses
claimed the man was lying across the railway line as the train approached.
The
motive of the incident is yet to be known.
Police
said they are investigating possible suicide. The body was moved to the
mortuary pending identification and autopsy.
Elsewhere,
a minor was burnt to death in an incident in Kaptumo village, Nandi County.
The minor
was aged four months. His sister aged six years escaped death after she stepped
out to play with other children.
The
mother of the children said she had gone to pick tea at Kamarini area, leaving
the child with a candle burning on Tuesday morning.
The elder
sister aged six then went out to play and later on, saw the house of fire and
raised an alarm.
The house
was completely burned down, whereby the baby boy was burned beyond recognition
and nothing was salvaged from the house, police said.
Police
said the cause of the fire was suspected to be the candle that was left
burning.
The
remains of the child were moved to a local mortuary.
In
Kangemi, Nairobi, the body of a 54-year-old woman was found in her bed on
Tuesday morning.
Police
said relatives of Teresia Muhaki found the body in the room when they went to
wake her up.
She had
failed to wake up prompting the relatives to go check on her when they found
the body lying there.
The body
was moved to the mortuary pending investigations, which will include an
autopsy.
And in
Suneka, Kisii, a worker was found dead on a farm he was working on.
The
incident happened in Iterio village in the Bonyaoro sub-location and involved one
Miruka Asiago.
He had
been hired to work on the farm and had embarked on his work when his body was
discovered.
Police
officers visited the scene where they found the body lying dead facing upward
with no visible injuries.
The body
was moved to Nyangena Private Hospital Kisii Mortuary pending autopsy.
Elsewhere
in Manyatta, Embu County, a 35-year-old man was found dead after he had
swallowed poison.
Police
said they were informed of the incident that involved one Amos Kinyua Njiru.
The
motive of the incident is yet to be established, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
