Police in Machakos are hunting down a man who allegedly killed his lover and went missing.
Machakos County police commander Patrick Lobolia confirmed the murder incident.
The incident happened at a rented house in the Muvuti area on the outskirts of Machakos town on Sunday night.
Lobolia said the cause of the tragic incident is suspected to be a love triangle.
“The incident is suspected to be out of a love triangle. The man reportedly invited the woman to his rented house in the Muvuti area within Machakos subcounty, apparently raped her before killing her,” Lobolia said.
He spoke to the Star on Monday.
Lobolia said the matter was reported to Machakos police station as a murder incident report.
He said officers from Machakos police station responded to the scene and processed it before removing the body which was taken to Machakos Level 5 hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
The police boss said Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives attached to the Machakos police station had launched a probe into the incident.
“The DCI officers are already investigating the incident, they are in hot pursuit of the suspect,” Lobolia said.
He condemned the incident stating that no one should take the law into his or her own hands.
