The murder trial of former Kabete MP George Muchai enters its third day this week with the Prosecution having lined up witnesses to testify in the case.

On Wednesday, February 19, Assistant Superintendent of Police Stephen Mwangi uncovered the extensive web of communication between the seven accused persons before and after the brutal murder of Muchai.

In a gripping testimony, Mwangi revealed that the accused had been in constant contact, with some exchanging over 150 phone calls during the crucial days leading up to and following Muchai's tragic death.

Those on trial over his murder are Eric Isabwa alias chairman, Raphael Kimani alias Kim Butcher, Mustapha Kimani alias Musto, Stephen Astiva alias Chokore, Jane Wanjiru alias Shiro, Margaret Njeri and Simon Wambugu.

They have however denied the charges.

Mwangi, the Prosecutions thirty-seventh witness presented a detailed communication analysis matrix before trial Judge Kanyi Kimondo, illustrating the intricate partners of phone calls exchanged between the accused from February 1 to February 10, 2015.

The report which was produced as an exhibit before the court painted a stark picture of the conspiracy that may have culminated in Muchai's untimely demise.

Mwangi who oversees communication analysis and data integration, explained that he extracted data from the mobile number of the seven accused persons.

He highlighted a key connection between Raphael and Asitiva, who exchanged phone calls 100 times before, during and after Muchai's death.

The analysis also revealed that Jane Wanjiru the fifth accused had engaged 150 phone calls with the third accused Stephen Asitiva.

Fertilizer Case

The Sh209 fake fertilizer case facing top officials of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) proceeds for hearing today as well.

Also facing the charges is Josiah Kariuki the director of SBL Innovate Manufacturers Limited.

Josiah and the officials-Joseph Muna Kamote, John Kiplangat and John Mbaya- were charged in court last year over the case.

They have denied charges ranging from conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office.

They are accused that jointly with others not before the court, they conspired with intent to defraud Kenyan farmers, selling a total of 139,688 bags of 25 Kgs each of soil amendment and conditioner valued at Sh209,532,000 purporting it to be a genuine fertilizer a fact they knew to be false.
