Ruto, who was accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Joho (Mining) and William Kabogo (ICT), among other leaders, was seen engaging in light moments with tourists along the Mama Ngina drive.
“William is my name...welcome! Are you guests in Kenya or residents? Where do you stay?” he is heard saying as he casually interacts with two young Norwegians.
He also inquired about their travels in Kenya, with one of them responding that they had visited Tsavo West, Amboseli, and Nairobi.
“Where did you visit in Kenya? he further asked.
One of them responded, saying they visited Tsavo West, Amboseli and Nairobi.
Earlier on, Ruto was captured at a beachside restaurant chatting with local traders before ordering some shawarma wraps.
Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern street food consisting of meat that is cut into thin slices.
It is made from marinated meat, such as lamb, beef or chicken.
“Hawa majamaa si wapange mambo. Kabogo wacha nikununulie kitu hapa. Hatujakula kitu sisi, tumehangaika the whole day,” he jokingly remarked.
As one of the workers asked him “Mnakula hapa hapa? Ruto replied “huyu jamaa ametupigia hesabu nyingi, sasa mkitupanga namna hii si tutachelewa tulale hapa".
Before leaving the area, Ruto could be heard instructing the worker, “Panga panga hawa majamaa wote.”
All this time, the residents and traders who had thronged the area could be seen snapping photos of Ruto, who appeared relaxed.
President Ruto has been in the region since last weekend for a series of development activities.
He will be in Taita Taveta on Friday.
