President William Ruto has vowed to ensure that national resources are managed prudently to reduce the over-reliance on foreign debts.

Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UDA and ODM parties, Ruto committed to fostering transparency and responsible borrowing.

He also vowed to ensure that an audit of past debt is conducted so that the country can understand how much has been borrowed and for what purposes and how it is paid.

The President was confident that by working with Raila, this would be successful, noting his previous attempts hit a snag.

“I attempted to set up this audit, it didn’t work. I am confident that with this broad formation we will now be able to audit our debt,” the President stated.

On tackling corruption, Ruto committed to enhancing the capacity of institutions charged with the mandate.

"We will fight corruption decisively and avoid wastage of public resources as well as uphold the rule of law and constitutionalism by ensuring government officials respect judicial decisions and protect the rights of all citizens," he stated.

According to Ruto, their collective role is to create a just, equitable and prosperous country for all.

Additionally, the agreement seeks to address issues of leadership and integrity, proposing the establishment of a legal and institutional framework to tackle conflicts of interest among public servants.
