President William Ruto has hit out at his political opponents seeking to unseat him in the upcoming 2027 general elections, urging them to prioritise presenting their policies to the public rather than attacking him.

Speaking during a rally at Laikipia county, the President emphasized that Kenya's voters had elected him with the mandate of delivering to Kenyans, adding that his adversaries should sell their policies instead of focusing on him.

President Ruto, who began his Mt Kenya development tour on Tuesday accompanied by several leaders, highlighted that leadership should be based on ideas and achieving the development agenda rather than initiating constant attacks.

“Mimi nataka niwaambie nyinyi mnaosumbuka na mimi, mfanye mambo mawili; Kwanza kama mnataka kushindana na mimi kwendeni tafuta sera,” Ruto stated.

(I want to tell those who keep criticising, you need to do two things; first, if you want to compete with me, go and look for policies)

He lashed out at those who were criticizing him and told them to detract from political noise and empty rhetorics, emphasizing their need to develop their agenda and adding that mere criticism risked undermining their political ambitions.

“Tell Kenyans what you will do in the agricultural sector, roads, energy and health; otherwise, you will go round and round and your ambitions will fade.”

Ruto further called on leaders to focus on service delivery, adding that the voters would reward leaders based on their performance and track record

“Let everyone do their work, the Members of County Assembly (MCAs), Governors, Women Representatives and even me, I will do my part. The people who will decide in the long run and the teachers to mark the performance record is you (voters),” he stated.

“And for those who will not have delivered, you take them home.”

This comes a day after Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and President Ruto's feud escalated after Ruto detailed in a Monday night interview why he fell out with his former Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, claiming the ex-DP had threatened to make him one-term president.

The president alleged that Gachagua blackmailed him and asked for Sh10 billion to allegedly help Ruto shore up support for him in the Mt Kenya region.

But Gachagua, in a swift rejoinder, termed the claims as "lies".

The ex-DP asked the people of the Mt Kenya region not to skip public rallies to be addressed by President William Ruto during his tour of the region and instead accept the goodies President Ruto brought wholeheartedly.

Ruto is scheduled to visit Meru and Kirinyaga counties on Wednesday.
