Police are investigating an incident where the body of a middle-aged woman was found in her rental house in Kabete, Kiambu County after murder.

According to police, Naomi Chebet was brutally murdered in her rental house in an apartment by a suspect alleged to be her husband.

The suspect is on the run, police said on Wednesday, after the Saturday night incident.

Chebet was found dead in her rental apartment in Kabete, with a post-mortem report confirming she had suffered multiple injuries, including stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

The deceased woman, who was a mother of three, graduated from a community catering course in 2021.

According to reports, she was last seen alive entering her apartment with the suspect on Saturday night, just hours before she was found dead.

The couple had just reunited after months of separation, a reconciliation that was led by Chebet's brother at around 9 pm on Saturday.

An hour later, the suspect left the house at 10:30 pm.

He allegedly confessed to having committed the murder in a cryptic message that he wrote on Facebook, police said.

The suspect was last traced to Githurai 45 on Monday, but authorities have yet to make an arrest.

The family is urging the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to speed up investigations and bring the suspect to justice.

Elsewhere in Wajir, a man was stabbed to death in an incident following an argument.

The body of Cyrus Munene Mboroki, 30, was found in his rental house long after the incident.

The body had stab wounds in the stomach and chest, police said.

The assailant is yet to be found, police said of the Monday night incident.

The body was moved to Wajir Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem, even as police hunt for the assailant.

Cases of murder have been on the rise amid calls on parties to solve their differences amicably.

Police say they are solving some of the incidents and they are pending in courts.

A special DCI unit is focusing on the cases.
