Crime scene

The decomposing body of a man was found packed in a sack and dumped in a dam in Munyu area, Laikipia.

Locals told police they spotted a sack floating on the dam, which prompted them to check the contents.

After retrieving the sack from the water, they established it had a decomposed body.

The incident happened on March 30, police said.

Police said the body was missing its head, hands, and legs, and the male torso seemed to have been killed elsewhere and later dumped in the water.

The remains were later taken to the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem and identification.

Police said they are investigating murder. The motive is yet to be established.

Meanwhile, a bodaboda operator was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife in their home in Ongata Rongai in a suspected domestic brawl.

Neigbors claimed the incident happened after the deceased returned with less money than usual.

The suspect was arrested pending interrogation, police said.

Witnesses said that the bodaboda rider had just come back from work, having earned significantly less due to heavy rainfall affecting business.

His wife confronted him about the household items that were missing and demanded that he provides the money for replacement.

When he was unable to do so, an argument erupted between them, the neighbours told police.

It was then that the woman is said to have grabbed a kitchen knife and confronted the man.

Sensing the imminent danger, the operator attempted to flee but slipped and fell on the floor, prompting the woman to stab him in the chest.

By the time neighbours arrived, it was too late as he was already dead.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Detectives said they want to understand what led to the fatal stabbing.

Police urged for calm, saying they had a prime suspect in the case.

This is after some of the operators in the area threatened to stage a protest.
