Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has vowed to continue exposing what he termed as ‘shady deals’ in government without being cowed by anyone.

While telling off those calling for his arrest for allegedly contravening the Secrecy Act, Gachagua said he swore to do the right thing and keep the law.

Speaking about Kenya’s foreign policy, Gachagua said the current diplomatic tiff with Sudan was driven by commercial interests.

“I saw someone trying to lecture me that I should not talk about it because I swore to some constitution...the constitution that I and Muturi (former Public Service CS) swore is to do the right thing and keep the law,” he said.

Gachagua made the remarks during former President Mwai Kibaki's memorial service in Nyeri county.

Former nominated MP Wilson Sossion and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma were among those who called for Gachagua's arrest and prosecution.

Sossion accused the former DP of disclosing matters that he swore an oath to keep secret while in government.

“Breaking the oath of secrecy is treason. Any matter discussed with the President must not be shared publicly, especially in television interviews.I don’t understand why the DCI has not arrested Gachagua yet,” Sossion said.

Kaluma termed Gachagua's remarks reckless and risky to the country.

He said Gachagua can say whatever about President Ruto, but he cannot attack the sovereignity, international reputation and stability of the republic of Kenya as he has been doing.

“All citizens are equal before the law. Gachagua is not above the law. Arrest and prosecute Gachagua with offences relating to undermining the republic.”

During a recent TV interview, Gachagua accused President Ruto of using the presidency to advance his private commercial and financial interests.
