Detectives are investigating an incident where a primary school teacher collapsed and died while playing with a group of children at a playground in Pangani area, Nairobi.
James Mathenge was
a teacher at the Nadhir Integrated Academy in the city.
He had taken a
group of pupils to Sir Ali Muslim Academy playground for an afternoon soccer session when he collapsed and died.
Witnesses told
police he developed breathing difficulties before he collapsed at about 3 pm.
He was rushed to a
local clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited the
scene and talked to witnesses as the body was moved to the mortuary pending
autopsy and the probe.
Police said they are
investigating the incident that prompted the stoppage of the game.
Meanwhile, a
14-year-old boy was electrocuted when he stepped on a live wire in Dandora,
Nairobi.
Police said the
juvenile was washing a lorry that had dumped waste at a site in the area when
the incident happened.
The driver of the
lorry told police he had asked the juvenile to wash the lorry outside a petrol
station on Wednesday afternoon when he learned he had been electrocuted.
The deceased boy
stepped on a live naked wire that lay on the wet ground, electrocuting him.
The body was moved
to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigation, police said.
Elsewhere, a
75-year-old man was found dead outside his house in Kiptoror area, Trans Nzoia
County.
Police said John
Wanjala had earlier left his house for a local shopping centre and failed to
return him.
It was then that the
family found him lying dead outside their house.
Police who visited
the scene said the body did not have any visible injuries at the time of the
discovery.
The body was moved
to Kitale County Referral Hospital morgue, awaiting autopsy.
In Malaba, Busia County, a man was found dead after he
had complained he was hungry.
Police said Alfred Mbati, 35, had complained of being
hungry and requested food and warm water.
He was later found lying unresponsive on an open ground. Police were called to the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
