The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced temporary job vacancies to support the upcoming by-election exercises.
The commission is inviting applications for the positions of voter registration clerks and by-election poll officials.
Voter registration clerks will be deployed to various Huduma Centres across all 57 locations in the country. Their main responsibility will be to facilitate voter registration services in accordance with the commission’s guidelines.
In addition to voter registration clerks, IEBC is also recruiting poll officials to serve during by-elections in selected electoral units. These include one senatorial seat in Baringo County, six parliamentary constituencies, and seventeen county assembly wards.
The parliamentary constituencies with vacant seats include Magarini in Kilifi County, Banissa in Mandera County, Mbeere North in Embu County, Malava in Kakamega County, Ugunja in Siaya County, and Kasipul in Homa Bay County.
The vacant county assembly ward positions are distributed across multiple counties. These include Chewani Ward in Galole Constituency, Tana River County; Fafi Ward in Fafi Constituency, Garissa County; Mumbuni North Ward in Machakos Town Constituency, Machakos County; as well as Lake Zone and Nanaam Wards in Turkana County.
Other wards with vacancies are Angata Nanyokie Ward in Samburu North, Samburu County; Tembelio Ward in Moiben Constituency, Uasin Gishu County; Metkei Ward in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County; Chemundu/Kapng’etuny Ward in Chesumei Constituency, Nandi County; Narok Town Ward in Narok North, Narok County; Purko Ward in Kajiado Central, Kajiado County.
Kisa East Ward in Khwisero Constituency, Kakamega County; Nyamalya, Ekerenyo, and Nyansiongo Wards in various constituencies within Nyamira County; Kariobangi North in Embakasi North Constituency, Nairobi County; and Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Kabuchai Constituency, Bungoma County are also among the vacant wards.
The IEBC has emphasized that successful applicants must be prepared to work extended hours under uniform terms and conditions, depending on the demands of the electoral process.
All interested individuals are required to submit their applications exclusively through the IEBC online recruitment portal, available at https://jobs.iebc.or.ke. The deadline for submission of applications is October 16, 2025.
The commission reiterated its commitment to equal employment opportunity and warned that any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.
Meanwhile, the IEBC is busy registering voters, targeting 6.3 million new voters in the drive.
This target includes citizens who have reached the age of 18, those who have not registered previously, and voters who wish to transfer their registration details to different polling stations.
