Several corruption-related cases will come up before courts across Kenya this week as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) pursues recovery of public funds, public land and unexplained wealth, while criminal proceedings continue against public officials and other individuals facing graft-related charges.
According to the EACC's court diary for the week of July 20 to July 24, 2026, the matters include hearings, mentions and rulings involving current and former public officials, county government employees and private individuals in courts across the country.
One of the key cases scheduled for hearing is a suit seeking the forfeiture of unexplained assets worth Sh1.2 billion involving Nicholas Owino Ochiel and three others.
The matter will be heard at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on July 21 and 22.
The same court will also hear a mention involving Kiambu Governor Paul Kimani Wamatangi and others in a suit seeking recovery of Sh813 million alleged to be proceeds of corruption on July 23.
Another matter before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court is a mention involving former Homa Bay County Assembly Clerk Bob Kephas Otieno and four others, who face charges including alleged conspiracy to commit corruption, unlawful acquisition of public property and money laundering over the alleged embezzlement of Sh85.1 million meant for goods and services.
The court will also hear a separate civil recovery suit involving Bob Kephas Otieno and five others seeking recovery of Sh27.8 million allegedly acquired through fraudulent imprest claims made between 2016 and 2017.
Also, before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court is a mention involving former Trans Nzoia County accountant Andrew Biketi and five others in a suit seeking forfeiture of unexplained wealth valued at Sh283 million.
In Kajiado, the court will hear a recovery suit against Isaak Haji and two others over Sh15.6 million allegedly withdrawn from Kenya Meat Commission bank accounts under the guise of purchasing livestock.
In Marsabit, the court is expected to deliver a ruling in a suit seeking recovery of Sh32.9 million from Galma Golicha and seven others over the procurement of a fire engine valued at Sh62 million, which EACC says breached procurement laws and regulations.
The Chuka Law Court will also deliver a ruling involving nominated Tharaka Nithi MCA Asumpta Mwanjeru Gabriel, who is charged with forgery over allegations that forged academic certificates were submitted to secure clearance for nomination.
At the Isiolo Law Court, former Marsabit ward administrator Halkano Hallo Dabasso will face hearing on charges including fraudulent acquisition of public property amounting to Sh1.9 million in salaries and allegedly using forged academic certificates to secure employment.
Maralal Law Court will hear the case against Moses Kirwa Leadero, who is charged with fraudulent acquisition of public property, forgery, deceiving a principal and uttering a false document over allegations that he used a forged KCSE certificate to obtain employment as deputy principal of Maralal Polytechnic.
In Meru, former County Executive Committee member for Youth and Sports Daniel Kiogora will face a hearing on charges related to the alleged use of a forged university degree certificate to secure public office.
The Kitale Law Court will hear a case involving Peggy Makungyu Malova and others over allegations that fake academic certificates were used to secure employment and promotions within the Trans Nzoia County Government.
Several public land recovery cases are also scheduled before the Environment and Land Court.
The Milimani Environment and Land Court will hear a suit involving Sosik Limited and others seeking recovery of allegedly illegally acquired public land identified as LR No. 25435.
It will also hear matters involving Margaret Njoki Njuguna over LR No. 209/14712, Gaschan Holdings Limited and others over Judiciary land known as Nairobi Block 21/158, and Bufuma Trading Company Limited and others over land reserved for a children's playground in Nairobi West.
In Limuru, the Environment and Land Court will mention two suits seeking recovery of government residential land parcels registered as Limuru Township/198 and Limuru Township/205.
Other matters scheduled during the week include a mention before the Eldoret Law Court involving Noah Kipkemboi Rotich, who faces a charge of allegedly soliciting a bribe linked to the subdivision of group land, and a mention at the Meru Law Court involving Joseph M'eruaki Muthari and five others over allegations of abuse of office in the management of funds allocated for a borehole project at Kamweline Primary School.
The cases form part of the EACC's ongoing efforts to pursue criminal prosecutions, civil recovery proceedings and asset forfeiture cases aimed at protecting public resources and combating corruption across the country.
