Detectives have launched investigations into the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found stuffed inside a sack and dumped near the Nairobi River in Dagoretti, Nairobi.
The discovery was made on Sunday morning in the Kampi Moto area, according to police.
Police officers who visited the scene found the deceased, estimated to be about 25 years old, concealed inside a green sack beside the river.
Police said there were no signs of a struggle or bloodstains at the scene, leading investigators to pursue the possibility that the woman may have been killed elsewhere before her body was transported and dumped beside the river.
A preliminary examination did not reveal any visible physical injuries, and the exact cause of death will be established through a post-mortem examination, detectives said.
The scene was documented and processed before the body was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary for preservation and identification.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death to report to the nearest police station as investigations continue.
In a separate incident, police have launched investigations into the death of a 33-year-old security guard who was found with a fatal stab wound in the Imara area of Embakasi, Nairobi.
The body of Justus Muthee Nzioki was discovered at about 6.30 a.m. on Sunday.
Police officers who responded to the scene found the deceased lying on his back in a pool of blood.
A preliminary examination indicated that Nzioki had sustained a stab wound to the chest.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Embakasi photographed, documented and processed the scene. Police said the suspected murder weapon was not recovered, although the deceased's mobile phone was found in his pockets.
The body was moved to Nairobi City Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to establish the exact cause of death.
Police said investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those who may have been involved.
