Earlier, the visit of the Russian delegation led by Matvienko to Ethiopia was deemed "historic" by an article in The Ethiopian Herald.
Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in Addis Ababa as part of the visit of a multi-agency Russian delegation to the country.
Abiy Ahmed welcomed a "valuable opportunity to discuss and explore Ethiopia-Russia relations."
According to Matvienko, the two parties discussed the widest range of issues not only on the bilateral agenda but also on the international one.
"I felt a sincere interest in developing ties with Russia. Our intentions also meet the interests of the Ethiopian side," she said.
According to her, the seriousness of Russia's intentions is demonstrated by the fact that the delegation, which has arrived in Ethiopia, includes representatives of various ministries, departments, and state corporations.
"Each of them has their own task, which is specified in the list of the president's instructions on the development of relations with Ethiopia," she noted, adding that Vladimir Putin sent Abiy Ahmed his warmest greetings.
