Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is among the leaders elected to lead DRC peace talks.
This is after leaders from the EAC and the SADC met on Monday to advance a ceasefire plan.
During the summit, five former heads of state were elected to facilitate the peace process.
Others are Nigeria’s Olusegun Obasanjo, South Africa’s Kgalema Motlanthe, Ethiopia’s Sahle-Work Zewde, and Central African Republic’s Catherine Samba Panza.
Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and pro-government fighters have continued to clash despite calls for a ceasefire.
