Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado has denied any involvement in the 2018 murder of university student Sharon Otieno, telling the High Court that although he had an intimate relationship with her and was responsible for her pregnancy, he neither killed her nor participated in the murder.

Obado testified that he was unwilling to marry Sharon but continued supporting her financially even after their romantic relationship ended.

He also said he had informed his wife about the affair and apologised.

According to his testimony, staff in Migori County were aware of the relationship, and he had proposed building Sharon a house in Homa Bay.
